Blog for the Boys

8 months! Jeremiah seems to be looking more and more like a little boy than a baby. The last couple weeks it seems he has thinned down. I think he has just gotten taller, so it makes him seem thinner. Our best guess is he is 20 lbs and 28 1/2 inches long. It is pretty hard to corral him to get any measurements. He loves food!! We haven’t found one he doesn’t like. He especially likes any food we have, even though he doesn’t get much of it. Still no teeth, but that doesn’t stop him from using his gums to “bite” stuff off. I had to pry about a half inch of banana out of his mouth today because he stuffed it in an bit down.

He is way too smart for his own good! The other day Andy put his legs out to stop Jeremiah from getting something, so Jeremiah just crawled around them so Andy couldn’t reach him. He also made it all the way up the stairs a couple days ago. He is fast!!! It did not take long at all. Now he turns and smiles at us when he crawls to the bottom of the steps, then turns around and starts up them. (The parts for the gate need to get here soon!!) He has gotten really fast at pulling himself up on anything that is stationary. And tries to pull himself up on anything that is not stationary too! How do you teach a child to fear something? He has no fear.

We just got back from 2 weeks in Indiana, so we are still in the
adjustment stage. Adjusting back to California time is hard for
Jeremiah and since I am not a morning person at all it is hard for me
too. (I don’t enjoy anything before 7:00 and really would prefer not to enjoy anything before 9:00. – Oh, well part of the mom job.)

We had a great time seeing family and friends! It was so good to see people we had not seen for a long time. Jeremiah got to go to camp for the first time and that was a lot of fun. Andy and I have gone to Senior High Camp the last couple of years, but it was definitely different with Jeremiah. The campers loved him! Jeremiah had to sing with Aunt Abby and Aunt Anna to get his first camp package! I am sure there will be many more to come. Thanks Grandma Merrill. Jeremiah also got to meet several family members for the first time. Great Grandpa and Grandma Shultz, Uncle Ben, Aunt Heather and Cousin Gracie came up to camp for a Merrill family get together. Jeremiah also got to meet Great Grandma Caughell’s sister, Anita, and her family and Aunt Peg (my mom’s sister), Uncle Perry and Cousin Jeff.

We also had adventures at my parents. Jeremiah worked on and rode the John Deere pedal tractor (he can barely touch the pedal when it is closest to him.). Grandpa and Daddy pushed him back and forth in the living room. We got to ride in the big truck with Grandpa. Unfortunately the car seat faces backwards so he couldn’t see how high up he was. Daddy took him on his first four wheeler ride. We think he liked it, but his hat kept falling in his face. We also got to swim in Uncle Doug and Aunt Deb’s pool! And of course he was loved on by all the Grandmas!

Jeremiah loved seeing all the little kids too. My high school friends got together (there are now 7 little ones). Boy was it interesting getting a picture of all of them! We also saw the Ziles and Furlongs (there are 4 little ones now and 2 on the way). Then we saw Bev and her little boy Trevor. Did I miss anyone else? We were so busy seeing a lot of kids!

I hope all is well with you.

🙂
Nichole
