Yes, I just typed 2 1/2 years old. It is so hard to believe. Take a look at our “cheesy” boy! This month flew by. We had so much going on. Yet it seems like a long time since I have written.
About a week after I wrote last, we were looking at Jeremiah and he seemed “slimmer”. So we measured him again. He had grown 1/2 inch in 2 weeks. How crazy is that. We also have been to the doctor’s 2 more times since then too. It seems his “colds” (4 within about 5 weeks) he was having ended up being teething. He now has about half of each bottom back molar in. So those are the big developmental miles stones this month. That is enough for now.
Before we went to Indiana we were busy finishing things up here and doing some last minute fun activities with our friends Charlie and Connor. Jeremiah will really miss playing with them, but that also means Baby Joshua is coming soon!! Sarah is not watching them anymore since she is a month away from having the baby. Jeremiah had the opportunity in Indiana to practice “tickling toes” on his cousin William. So he is ready now for Baby Joshua. At least it keeps him away from the hands and the face.
We had a jam packed time in Indiana. I was good and not quite as hectic as I thought it would be. Jeremiah loved playing outside at Grandma & Grandpa Caughell. He drove everything with wheels. His highlight was knocking down the tree with the loader tractor. Yes a real tree and yes on purpose. (Of course Grandpa helped, but he won’t tell you that part.) He played in the sprinkler or with squirters about every day. And of course he talked up a storm the whole time.
We went fishing at Great Grandma Maxine’s. He was more interested in her cat that kept running for its life than the fishing. We had to “drive” the mower at Great Grandma Caughell. Who cares about a swing when there is a mower to get on. And of course he talked up a storm the whole time.
Kittens, Kittens, Kittens at Grandma & Grandpa Merrills. Was there anything else we did there? The poor cats were probably so glad we left. At least he didn’t realize he was big enough to pick them up until the last day. I am sure the families that took one are glad they were exposed to Jeremiah first, he really “broke them in”. Oh yes, we did do one other thing. Jeremiah played piano and sang (nothing near the same tune, but it was funny.) And of course he talked up a storm.
But the story you are all waiting for (ok probably just a few of you really want to hear it). The Wedding. He did incredibly well. I thought we were not going to make it when I took my seat, but thanks to chocolate and a promise of cake, he was adorable. Pictures were before and we had already used all of the Cheerios and raisins as bribes, as well as the banana and cucumber and I don’t know what else. So Andy sent him walking with the promise of a Hershey’s kiss. Uncle Ben had Gracie and Jeremiah hold hands when they got to the end of the runner (much to his dismay Baby William did not go down the aisle with them). They were adorable and we got one good picture. Then about half way up they got tripped up in the runner. I was outside and the runner just kind of hovered on top of the grass. With the help of Merrill’s former pastor, they got untangled. Jeremiah started to trip but he caught himself. They both made it to the front. I was right he asked Katie for her phone and camera as soon as he got up there and also for cake, but it was pretty quiet. Somehow she convinced him to stay up there until Abby got to the front, but as soon as she passed him he was done standing up front. So we got to the end and it was time to for him to follow Abby and John out. He did not want to go, but started reluctantly and cried “I want to eat cake”. I told him he had to follow John and Abby and out he went. Of course Auntie Katie was quite confused when he got to the back and asked for cake. He did such a great job and Grandma spoiled him with a huge piece of cake. (The picture is from before the wedding, but the smile was too cute not to send.)
The highlight of the wedding weekend for Jeremiah was swimming in the hotel pool. He loved it. He was underwater more than he was above it. It was great that it wore him out and he slept really well.
He did pretty well in the airplane. He thought it was hilarious going through the clouds and going above them. He even told me about it today as we were driving home. It was not easy keeping him from putting his feet on the seat in front of him. Nor did he sleep very well on the plane like I would have liked. So I can’t really say it was restful flight, but he did transition well with time change so that is a plus.
We got back and are finally getting caught up on everything. Furlong’s (friends from Indiana) were out here when we got back, so we went to the Wild Animal Park with them and did a cook out with them at their hotel. It was great to get to see them.
And of course Jeremiah is still talking up a storm, “reading” my books and his, singing songs (made up and ones Grandpa taught him – thanks a lot!), and rediscovering all his toys here. We are busy as always. It is kinda strange to have our Indiana trip done so early, we have the whole summer yet. What will we do? Well, provided the rain that was forecasted really doesn’t come, we are headed to the beach tomorrow!
Hope you all have a great start to your summer.
🙂
